Module 1 Post

CNN's Initial Article

CNN Again

In the first article, CNN attributes the third photo (the one of the actual kid) to something called "KUSA", which apparently is the callsign of an NBC affiliate based in Colorado. IIf I had to guess, I would say that the image is most likely being used illegally. I could find no indication of who took the photo, who he was working for at the time. Most importantly, there is, at least nowhere I could find, any mention of who holds the copyright. Unless the photo came from KUSA's archive. In which case I am completely wrong.

In the second article, the picture of that Karr character is attributed to the LA County Sheriff's office. In those cases, I think the picture becomes a matter of public record, and thus no copyright is needed. I think the only exceptions are if like the police have a picture of a defendant in a rape trial, that wouldn't be public record. Yes. I am probably right on this one.

Here's a class-assigned blog about journalism. I'll probably be blogging about stuff we talk about in class. As yet, I have no clue what all that might include. Meh.
